Ambud is a village, is located in Romania, in the county of Satu Mare.
The name of the village was first mentioned in documents in 1393 as Wmboth, but 37 years later, in 1433, it was already written as Ombod.
The settlement belonged to the Ecsed manor, and together with it to the Ecsed castle.
In 1391, it was owned by the Báthory family and remained in the family until its disappearance. In 1417, the Báthori family received a new donation. At the beginning of the 17th century, it still belonged to the Ecsed manor, but in the meantime others acquired a part of the estate here: in 1610, István Kákonyi and Tamás Királydaróczi Debreczeni. In 1758, the Eötvös family of Vásárosnamény received the entire settlement, and then Count Teleki acquired it from them. At the beginning of the 19th century, the family of Baron Apor also acquired a share here. At the beginning of the 20th century, Gerando Félix was the owner of Ambud. At the time of the 2002 census, of its 1,044 inhabitants, 815 (78.1%) were Hungarians, 137 (13.1%) Gypsies and 92 (8.8%) Romanians.
