Apa, village in Apa commune, Satu Mare county, Romania.The town of Apa is located in the eastern part of Satu Mare county, in the Someșului Plain, with the Gutâi Mountains to the east, and the Codrului Hills to the south.The first documentary attestation of the town of Apa appears in 1215 in Makrai’s work:
“The County of Medieval Szatmár”.Another Hungarian author, Dr. Borovsky Sámuel, states: the name Apa comes from the ancient inhabitants”. For this reason, a few inhabitants keep their name Apan for generations. The Apa commune consists of the villages of Someșeni, Lunca Apei and the town of Apa. Being located near the castle of Medieșu Aurit, it was devastated several times by Turks and Tatars. In 1717, the Tatars burned down the entire commune.From the end of the 13th century, more important properties were owned by the Wesselényi, Vécsey, Boros, Gáspár, Katona, Daróczi, Szent-Iványi, Gabányi families. In the early 1900s the largest estate belonged to Berenczei Kováts Gyula and Szent-Ivány Gyula.
