Atea (Hungarian Atya) is a village in Dorolț commune, Satu Mare county, Transylvania, Romania.
Atea is a settlement located northwest of Satu Mare, near the Romanian-Hungarian border, south of Pelișor. The settlement was first mentioned in contemporary documents in 1462, when its name was written as Athya. After the disappearance of the Atyay family in 1445, the estate was inherited by Bornemisza Boldizsár and Mihály Kusalyi Jakcs. In 1524, after the Kusalyi Jakcs family died, Atya was given to János Drágfi as a royal donation.
In 1550, László Rosályi Kún also received a partial property here, which he also owned in the 1600s. In 1546, János Zsigmond occupied the village of Atya. Atya was considered an important place at the time, county meetings were held there several times: for example in 1658 and again in 1710. At the beginning of the 19th century, the Várday, Péchy and Zimány families had larger estates here, then the Pataky, Ackerman, Szabó, Paál, Török, Selyeby, Lázin, Tóth and Surányi families also had estates obtained in the settlement.
