Gacsály, village in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, Fehérgyarmat District. The town and its surroundings were already inhabited in the Bronze Age, as Bronze Age artefacts have been found on its borders.
We find his name in written form for the first time in 1263 in certificates. It comes from a personal name of German origin – Gottschall – meaning “servant of God.” Its church is already mentioned at the beginning of the 14th century. In 1332, his name was written as Gachal.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Sándor Maróthy and Sándor Madarassy owned the town.
