Garbolc, village in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, district of Fehérgyarmat. The name Garbolc can be found in documents for the first time in 1344, when it is written as Garbolcz. In the 11-12th century it belonged to the Rozsály manor. In the 18th century, the Becsky, Nagy, Horváth, Várday, Szalkay, Szőke families owned. The settlement was destroyed during the Independence war of Rákóczi and it was rebuilt only later. It was destroyed again in 1787, burned in a fire.
The village then moved to a new location and they built their new church here in 1832.
Garbolc was one of the five villages destroyed by the river Someș in May 1970, by the flood. In mid-May 1970, the village, which was not protected by a flood protection embankment, was inundated by a flood that destroyed a significant part of the buildings. Against of the reconstruction supported by the state, many families of Garbolc decided to emigrate, thus the population of the locality decreased from 325 people in 1970 to 193 people in 1980.
