Hrip, (in Hungarian Hirip) is a village in Păulești commune, Satu Mare county, Transylvania, Romania. Hirip’s name was first mentioned in documents in 1393 and was already written under his current name. The town belonging to the Béltek manor, was the property of the Drágfi family of Béltek in the 15th century. After the disappearance of the Drágfi family from Béltek, it became an estate of the crown, in 1592 it belonged to the Ardud castle in Satu Mare county. In 1732, Sámuel Nagy of Böszörmény and András Komáromi received a letter of royal donation for it, and in 1765, it belonged to the Szuhányis: Antal and László Szuhányi received a donation for half of the town. Since then, its main owners have been the Suhány family.
