Jánkmajtis village in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, with Fehérgyarmat residence.
The name of the settlement appears in documents for the first time in 1252.
In the early 1300s, it was owned by the Jánky family. In 1315, it was the property of the Barsa (Borsa) family.
In the late 1300s it was the property of the Jánky family, from whom King Zsigmond took it in 1387 and gave it to the Garays. In the middle of the 15th century, several more families, Rosályi Kún, Várday and Majtisy, also owned here. In the 1600s and 1700s the Lónyay family owned the settlement, then in the late 1700s it became the property of the Barkóczyas.
County meetings were held in the village several times: in 1669 and 1719. In the mid-1800s it belonged to the estate of Jánky Barkóczyak together with several settlements, then until 1945 it was owned by the Hadik-Barkóczy family. Majtis was first recorded in 1380, its owner at the time being the Maytisy family. The Someș River often flooded the settlement, the last time in 1970. In the spring of 1905, the entire village burned down. Jánk and Majtis united in 1950.
