Panyola is located in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County. The Panyola area may have been inhabited before the conquest.
The area provided good opportunities for fishermen and hunters, and later farmers and ranchers, which the conquerors also took advantage of.Its first documented mention dates at 1247. His name is written as Ponula, Kisponula (1379), Ponyala, Panyola (1382) and Panyla.
The owners of the village in the century and a half after the conquest were members of the Balog-Semjén family. At that time Tompa’s son Benedek, Ubul’s son Mihály and Péter Panyala shared it. In 1285, the people of Panyola asked King László IV for permission to build a castle here. In 1292, the branch of the Panyola family that lived here, sold the heritage. The family received it back in 1307.
In 1415 Zsigmond Panyolai was captured by the Turks, his wife and children sold their property to Luca Panyola and her daughters. In 1427, King Sigismund of Luxembourg (1387-1437) donated everything to János Kállay, which remained a permanent Kállay estate until the end of the 19th century. From 1806, he returned to Satu Mare county. In later times the Kends and Dessewffy also occupied part of its territory. The locals bought the land from the poor and displaced owners.
