Românești is a village in Medieșu Aurit commune in Satu Mare county, Transylvania, Romania. Românești was first mentioned in 1411 in a deed under the name Gergesmezew as property of the Móricz sons. After disappearance of the Meggyesaljai family, it was inherited by the. Báthorys, but other families also had some ownership here. In 1585, it was the property of György Szokoli, who received two mills on the river Someș, as well as a partial estate. In 1597 the owner György Bánffy Losonczi. In 1624, István Kovacsóczy received the entire locality. Katalin Károlyi received it in 1629, and since then it belonged to the family of Count Károlyi.
At the beginning of the 20th century, it belonged to Seini in Satu Mare County. In 1910, of its 691 inhabitants, 264 were Hungarians and 427 Romanians. Of these, 455 were Greek Catholic, 211 Reformed and 22 Israeli.
