Kisar, is a village in the Northern Great Plain region, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County. Ar’s name is first mentioned in documents in 1374 as the property of the Kölcsey family of the Gutkeled family.
In 1374, only one settlement called Ar was known and may have developed from it, and the settlement split into Nagyar and Kisar, as the village was already called Kysar in documents in 1393.
It was the property of the Matucsina family until 1387, but then they fell into disloyalty, and their property was given to Kúnok from Rosály and Petőfi from Szántai. In 1391, the Petőfiek part of Szántai was inherited by the Báthorians, and was later largely owned by members of the Báthori family, after which it was inherited by the Bethlens and then by the Rákócs. During the time of the Turks, the village suffered a lot. In 1565, a battle took place in and around the village.
After the Peace of Satu Mare, it was given to Count Sándor Károlyi and remained in the Károlyi family until the mid-1900s.
